Second time at Herdwick Cottage. Feels like home the moment we see the front door. Great walks, weather, coffee, cake and ice cream! Simply the best, thank you x

What a cottage and what a week! It truly is a home from home. Sarah and Richard have thought of everything. We came away for a much needed break and it was so nice to see how clean everything was – spotless! Weather was excellent – some lovely walks and golf. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Fantastic 2 weeks in Ambleside, Herdwick Cottage felt like a home from home, we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We were lucky to have comfortable weather for lots of walking and also went llama trekking (with Alpacaly every after – not to be missed!). Thank you for a great stay!

We have been to Ambleside many times and this was our first time at Herdwick Cottage. It did not disappoint at all. Mixed weather week, but still managed many lovely walks. On a very wet day, Jack loved the Wii. The basement playroom was a huge hit and a big reason for us to come back again. Extremely comfortable beds too!. Thank you.

What a wonderful place! We’ve had some stunning walks (Todd’s Cragg, Elterwater, High Sweden Bridge). Lovely cottage and you’ve thought of everything (even sandwich bags). Thank you for a lovely, comfortable week.

Great to get a week in the Lakes after many months of ‘lockdown’. Apart from Tuesday, lucky with the weather, managed a week at Zefferellis, smashing as always and fine lunch at the Brittania. Lovely property with homely feel, well done! Will be back.

A fantastic week running to the hills to escape. Loughrigg, Lingmoor Fell, Wansfell all providing breath taking views. The cottage is a true home from home - we’ll be back!

Beautifully decorated and superbly equipped cottage – thank you so much. Had a wonderful few days and thankfully storm Dennis didn’t cause too much disruption. Hope to return one day, thanks again.

“Happy stay in this beautiful cottage, a real home from home in a fabulous location. Many miles walked this week in hot sun and rain! For the benefit of other guests, we recommend locally: lunch at The Mortal Man Inn in Troutbeck, Misto, Zeffs, Rattle Ghyll, Kysty, Apple Pie Bakery and Lucy's on a Plate.”

"Perfection. It was everything we wanted. Loved the cottage - lovely shower and mod cons - even enjoyed one of the jigsaws kindly provided by the owners! It was very comfortable and the quality of the accommodation made rainy days a pleasure too!”
